North Oxfordshire Community Foodbank

News contd

Our Annual General Meeting was held at Woodstock Baptist Church on Tuesday 23rd November 2010. We reviewed progress over our first year, including details of the number of parcels given out, families/individuals helped etc. Joyce Rice was re-elected as Chairperson and Nick Harris as Treasurer. Amy Thakurdas retired as Secretary and was warmly thanked for all her work to set up the organisation. Jill Downs was elected as our new Secretary. And the really important news is that in January 2011 we will be opening a Distribution Centre at the Highlands Day Centre in Chipping Norton. This will be open on Tuesdays from 11.00 to 13.00 each week. To facilitate this, the Woodstock Centre will then be open on Wednesdays from 9.00-10.30am.

A group of volunteers and supporters met for a "thank you" lunch at Kidlington Baptist Church on Friday 1st October 2010. This gave us all a chance to meet others involved with the project, to hear news of progress and to share ideas for the future.

Thanks to a fantastic grant from Oxfordshire Community Support Fund we have been able to fit out our store room with strong sturdy racking. We also have a good supply of stackable storage boxes with fitted lids.

We opened our doors for the distribution of food parcels for the very first time in the week after Easter, 2010: April 6th in Woodstock and April 9th in Kidlington.
