Volunteers Ann Goodspeed, Mary Franks and Melvina Fawcett with Nicola Blackwood, MP
At a recent Friday session at the Kidlington Distribution Centre, volunteers were delighted to receive a surprise visitor, when Nicola Blackwood, MP, popped in on a fact-finding visit.
Ms Blackswood, who represents the Oxford East and Abingdon constituency, spent some time chatting with the staff, finding out about the work of the foodbank, its purpose and the circumstances that arise leading to the need for the service it provides.
Our scheme for collecting Foodbank Nectar points is proving both attractive to supporters and VERY helpful for us. So far over £100 has been raised in this way, which has enabled us to stock up on essential items when supplies are running low. See Getting Involved if you would like to know more about our Nectar Card.
Word of the Foodbank is now really spreading and we have had enquiries and pleas for help from all over the region we aim to cover. Please help us keep this up:if you are involved with any agency which serves people in need, make sure you have a supply of vouchers which you can issueif you are involved with a church, school or voluntary group which would like to contribute food, regularly or on special occasions, then do contact us.
